The Economics Department, located in the University
of Pennsylvania's School
of Arts and Sciences, is ranked among the top ten in the U.S.
Its faculty, productive and research-oriented, is committed to the
advancement of economic science.
The Ph.D. program in economics at Penn is designed to train the
next generation of outstanding research economists. Successful graduates
hold academic positions in leading universities or research positions

The undergraduate program of the Economics Department is one of
the largest undergraduate programs in the School of Arts and Sciences.
The program's primary goal is to improve the analytical capacity
and literacy in economics of undergraduates. E-mail inquiries should

The Department houses two research centers: the Center for Research
in Economics and the Social Sciences (CARESS)
and the Penn Institute for economic Research (PIER).
Each supports workshops and disseminates research findings to the
academic community through a Working Paper Series.
The Department is also the editorial home of the International
Economic Review, one of the leading general audience journals
in economics.
